牛津大学是英语世界中历史最悠久的大学，也是目前存在的第二古老的高等教育机构。剑桥大学是世界着名的研究型大学之一，与伦敦大学学院、帝国理工学院和伦敦政治经济学院一同组成“G5超级精英大学”的成员。这所大学培养了许多开创纪元的艺术大师和国家元首，包括27位英国首相以及数十位世界各国的元首和政商界领袖。
牛津大学在数学、物理、医学、法学、商学等多个领域享有很高的学术地位和广泛的影响力，被公认为当今世界最顶尖的高等教育机构之一。截至2019年3月，牛津大学共有享誉世界的69位诺贝尔奖得主（世界排名第九）、3位菲尔兹奖得主（世界排名第二十）和6位图灵奖得主（世界排名第九）。华人作家钱钟书和香港霍英东集团副总裁霍启刚也是牛津大学的毕业生。

牛津共有104个图书馆。其中最大的博德利图书馆是英国第二大图书馆(仅次于大不列颠图书馆)，于1602年开放，比大英博物馆的图书馆早150年，现有藏书600多万册，拥有巨大的地下藏书库。剑桥也有近100个图书馆，藏书约500多万册，每年购书经费约300万英镑(折合4000多万人民币)。根据1611年英国书业公所的决定，英国任何一家出版社的图书都必须免费提供一册给牛津和剑桥的图书馆，至今如此。
本科生必须住在离Carfax（牛津市中心）6公里范围以内，研究生是25公里以内。每个学院都会在本科生攻读学位的第一年提供住宿，之后很多学生会搬到Cowley或者Jericho的公寓居住，还有学院的附属建筑里。具体的情况各个学院均不同。

今年新增地理专业笔试：
GAT（Geography Admissions Test）专为申请地理专业的学生设置。
地理专业一直都是牛津的强势专业，成绩要求高达A*AA。
语言更名
OLAT更名为AMELAT
申请学习以下专业，将被要求参加AMELAT（旧称OLAT）。

2023年报考牛津大学的入学考试截止日期是9月29日。
提交任何书面作业的截止日期则为11月10日。
考试时间
10月18日，剑桥评估入学考试机构（CAAT）将正式启动TSA和BMAT考试。牛津大学将在以下日期举办自己的入学考试：
10月19日：CAT、ELAT、GAT 和 MAT
10月20日：HAT、MLAT、PAT 和 TCS

牛津官网上给出的2024/25学年国际生学费范围为£33,050~£48,620。
但事实上，从牛津各本科专业的详情页面来看，学费最低的专业也需要£38,550，而不是£33,050。
